01.13 Route 666
Alright, Route 666 Dean Meta for
spn_heavymeta is done!! You may read it here.
After watching Route 666 five times (!!!) I no longer hate Cassie. I KNOW, ME TOO!! Because after a couple of viewings, and watching how Dean acts in it, I just want to smush him and love him and bake him pies. Because he DESERVES pies. *pets* He wants someone to love him. He wants someone to love him and not leave him and CHOOSE him. So far that hasn't happened. *glares at Sam*
The scene right before Dean and Cassie have sex? Is actually quite good. It's the one time their awkwardness around one another really works. The hands behind their backs posture, the way the hallway scene is framed, it all really, REALLY, works. The rest of the episode? Eh. I still fast forwarded through the Mom's speech all five times so I hope I wasn't missing some giant emotional breakthrough of Sam/Dean/Cassie. And Sam and Dean sitting on the hood of the car talking about killer truck makes me smile. The ease, the familiarity, just...they can look at one another with such affection sometimes it blows me away.
sargraf said it best in her Manlove PicSpam - Dean and Sam help each other the most when they're friends, not brothers. That is EXACTLY it, in my book.
And don't get me wrong, I still dislike Cassie (in the same way I dislike Sarah). Sam and Dean don't get to have girls. They get each other, that's it. Otherwise Kripke can expect a few hostile, drunken phone calls next season. But I have a new respect for the episode. Sure, the killer truck is laughable (when it bops up and down and grumbles? Awww, it's so CUTE) and no, Dean's not allowed to have a One True Love - but the brother bits? Those made it worth it. Those ALWAYS make it worth it. Why do you think I've watched Hookman so many times?
