Back when I was working on the idea of a Canada story (man, you are just getting all of the inside scoop!! You ask the best questions!!) I wanted Plastic!Sam and Plastic!Dean to hunt something strictly Canadian and I had people write in suggestions. And they gave me some great stuff - but all the Urban Legends they gave me were more than just legends - they were almost a part of Canada's history. And I didn't want to go around having Plastic!Sam and Plastic!Dean blithely murdering the Ogopogo sea monster or the Sasquatch - great urban legends, but they've never actually hurt anyone.

So then I decided to make Plastic!Sam and Plastic!Dean think they were hunting a Sasquatch and have Plastic!Sam become extremely disappointed when it turned out to be just a run of the mill werewolf. It's sort of like traveling all the way to France and then eating at a McDonald's. :)

Whoo-- lucky me! I actually love all the backstory on these creations. It's the same as writing stories, where sometimes beloved ideas have to get discarded for various reasons (I just could not make "Jumpoff Joe Creek" work into my [info]spn_50states fic for Oregon, and with a name like that the temptation was overwhelming.)

And it works better, too, because it adds extra irony (which goes SO well with CrackFic). :D
