Supernatural For The Newbie
So here is the basic premise for Supernatural, as told through pictures with captions. Not Dial-Up Friendly. Photo's Courtesy of SupernaturalTV

This is Sam. Hi Sam.
He's played by Jared Padalecki. A reasonably attractive young man.
Sam sometimes has issues with his hair.
Yeah. Like that.
Do you see what I'm talking about?
Sometimes it's not terrible.
And sometimes it's actually pretty good (Jared gives it two thumbs up!)

Sam gets choked a lot.

No, I mean A LOT.

Seriously.
Well, Dean gets choked sometimes too...(hee, no, that is not a Supernatural picture)

But Sammy still wins.
Occasionally he'll get tied up instead.
He thinks it's a nice change of pace.
Sam is in charge of research...
And he has these visions that they haven't really explained, but that sure are helpful.

But Sam's main job...

...is to be an annoying little brother to Dean.

This is Dean. Hi Dean.
He's played by Jensen Ackles. Another reasonably attractive young man.
Dean has some issue's with his anger.
Yeah. Like that.
Do you see what I'm talking about?
Well, Sam has some anger issues too.
But Dean still wins.
Dean also has many other expressions.
He can be sad...
...or scared...
...or excited...
...or charming.
Dean is in charge of kicking down doors. But do you think I could find a picture of him doing that? No. So instead you get Dean being cute with a kid, which he is also in charge of.
Dean is also in charge of being a horndog.
And I'd also say he's in charge of the weapons.
But he's mainly in charge of Sam.

Now, every episode is kinda the same.
They travel to new and exciting locations (Word up Fitchburg! *is a dork about Wisconsin*)
In their 1967 Impala.
When they get to town, they usually start their research.
They check their Dad's journal...
...and they hit the library...
...and they surf the Internet.
And at some point Dean will say to Sam...

"Isn't it about time we dress up in a wacky costumes?"
Like sheriff's...
...or CDC Investigators...
...or, uhhhh, sorry, I was distracted by the nametags. What they heck were they pretending to be again? Alarm company workers?
...or priests.

And it's really kind of amazing how often they get away with it...
...considering how untrustworthy they look.

Anyway, with the information they gather they usually come to the conclusion that they should set something on fire.
Now, they say it is just part of the job...
...but it seems to me...
...that they enjoy their job...
...a little TOO much sometimes.
I sometimes wonder if they aren't anything more than a couple of pyro's.
Because burning alone rarely ever works. So then it's time to break out the arsenal.
They use guns...
...and knives...
...and axes...
...and fire pokers...
...wait, are flashlights a weapon?
They so totally should be.
Eventually, the boys will split up...
...because they have a lot of free minutes...
...and no one to call...
...except for each other.
And somewhere in the episode there'll probably be a cute kid...
...or a damsel in distress.
Did I mention the part about the monster?
But don't worry, because Dean and Sam will always save the day.
But that's not...
...the real reason...
...to watch this show.
The real reason...
...to watch this show...
...is because every single episode makes me say...
..."Awwww, BROTHERS!!!!"...
...at least once.
Sam would do anything for Dean.
And Dean would do anything for Sam.
Sure, sometimes they fight.

But they always work it out.
Because at the end of the day...
...all they really have...
...is each other.
Who wouldn't love a show about all that?
Still not convinced it's a great show? How about this.

Sometimes they take their shirts off.

Or only walk around only wearing a towel. Oh, sure, NOW you want to watch.
You can catch Season Two every Thursday night at 8:00pm CST/9:00pm EST on the CW.
